A lot of conversations at 3|SHARE stall before they start, not because the idea is bad, but because everyone in the room means something different by it. We nod along to a word nobody’s actually defined yet.

It used to frustrate me, mostly because it made real requirements feel impossible to pin down. Nobody can scope a use case against a term they haven’t agreed on.

What’s helped is dropping the terminology first and asking what the person actually wants to stop doing by hand. The label tends to sort itself out once there’s a real task attached to it.

We’re not fully there yet, but the conversations have gotten noticeably better.
