Pennsylvania Spirits 101 Back to Journal →

Kileen and I were pleasantly surprised by a recent event we attended called the Philadelphia TASTE! Festival of Food, Wine & Spirits in Valley Forge, PA. While we’re no strangers to spirit festivals, we’d never been to one in such a suburban environment and without a clear focus.
A couple key takeaways from the event:
- I had no idea how many distilleries exist within Pennsylvania. Prohibition inspired many, many people to do their own thing.
- Some of the representatives that delivered the tastings clearly have fun at these events. We made friends with the folks at Barr Hill from Vermont and they were an absolute blast.
- Seeing people so passionate about their craft has become one of my own passions. Exactly how I feel at each of the garlic festivals we attend.
