A Conference Husband Around San Francisco Back to Journal →

For the past 12 years, travel has been a huge part of my job.1Well, until COVID-19, of course. Overall, I loved the opportunity to meet a client, experience a new city, and extend the trip for Kileen and me to explore.
This past week was different.
AASECT
We were in San Francisco this week for Kileen to attend her first AASECT conference for sex therapy, counseling, and education.
In many ways this was the culmination of several years of graduate study, internship, and supervision, so needless to say we were both very, very excited.
For me, it was a time to explore the city alone while Kileen was in sessions all day, which is a role reversal we both want to see more of in the future. Needless to say, I seized the day.
Lastly, I’d be remiss if I forgot to mention Kileen and I saw Past Lives at an Alamo Drafthouse for the first time. It was the first movie theater we’d been in since 2012.
Meeting Colleagues
It turns out work wasn’t all that far away…2In this case, it was a good thing. I had colleagues in town for a client so I was able to meet up with them for dinner one night.
It was a very pleasant surprise towards the end of already great trip.
